Parish Groups and Ministries

 

Here are some of the many ways you can get involved in the spiritual, liturgical and social life of the parish:

Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) meets Thursdays at 7pm upstairs in the Sacred Heart Centre, speak to Mrs Jo Regan

Legion of Mary meets Tuesdays 6.30pm in the back room of the church

Junior Legion of Mary meets at Bishop Vaughan School Tuesdays 3.15pm

Divine Mercy Study Group Faustinum Every third Friday 6.30pm Holy Hour, 7.30pm Mass, 8pm Study Group exploring the depths of Divine Mercy

Reading at Mass new readers are always needed to help proclaim the Word of God at all Masses, Sundays and weekdays. To be added to the Sunday rota contact Mrs Jo Regan, weekdays are on a volunteer basis daily.

Saturday Catechism classes Parish Sisters pre First Communion and pre Confirmation Srs Mini and Jacquay take weekly classes during term time from 4.00 – 5pm each Saturday, with the first Saturday including preparation for the monthly family Mass where the children lead the Mass including reading and singing.

Parish Choir meets Sundays at 4.00pm in the Sacred Heart Centre, new members always welcome. There is no test, you just need to love singing and be willing to learn! All ages are welcome, come and join the 20 or so fellow parishioners meeting every week to learn music to enrich our worship at Sacred Heart. We normally sing at the 11am Mass every Sunday, but please come along whatever Mass you attend to learn different hymns and Mass settings, and to support the major celebrations during the year, particularly Christmas, Holy Week and Easter and Holy Days of Obligation. Parish Organ lessons individual tuition at the Centre or Church organs at various times during the week by appointment. Around 20 young people are currently learning.

Lectio divina study the gospel reading of the following Sunday, meets Monday evenings in Parish Convent 15 Horeb Road, 7.00pm

Church cleaning speak to Father Jason to be added to the cleaning rota
