There are some beautiful prayers and meditations being offered on Radio 3 and Radio 4 to mark Holy Week and Easter. The main ones are these:

Palm Sunday   

  • 8.10am Radio 4  Sunday Worship from the Church of the Immaculate Conception Farm Street London
  • 3.00pm Radio 3  Choral Evensong from Magdalene College Oxford

Monday 

  • 9.45am  Radio 4  The Passion in Plants – the traditional connection between British wildflowers and the Passion of our Lord. (Each morning this week at the same time)
  • 10 45 pm Radio 3  Meditations from Monasteries – including Downside, Belmont and Pluscarden –on the subject of prayer against the background of plainchant. (Each morning this week)

Wednesday

  • 3.30pm   Radio 3  Choral Vespers from Westminster Cathedral including the hymn Vexilla Regis and Monteverdi’s Adoramus te Christe

Thursday        

  • 2.00pm  Radio 3 The Path of Miracles – inspired by the Camino de Santiago – The Pilgrim Path

Good Friday    

  • 2.00pm Radio 3  St. John Passion – from St. David’s Hall Cardiff – National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales. Evangelist: Gwilym Bowen. Christus: David Soar
  • 3.00pm Radio 4  Meditation for Good Friday by Rev. Richard Littledale – Why do Christians see beauty and love in an  instrument of torture so central to their faith – the Cross

Easter Sunday   

  • 8.10 am Radio 4   Cardinal Vincent Nichols will lead a service for  Easter Morning to be carried by all Local Radio Stations.
